They lived plainly and ] simply, but wisely withal. The grape w"as the source of much en-, joyment. • It is really wonderful how I the virtues and .merits of the Grecian grape have survived to the present day. For do we not all know the delicious Currant—which is the Greek grape, ripened and dried by the glorious southern sun ? To eat Currants is to follow the example of the poor but wise and scholarly Socrates, for the Currant is the most wonderful nutrient in the world, and so savoury.
