Wrestling on Stilts.
Before putting- curtain-hooks in curtains in damp weather, rub the pins with a cleau, oily rag. It
prevents them rusting and tearing the curtain, and they can be taken in and out more easily.
There are no dwarfs in the sandy "landes" districts of France, for here men, women, and children practically live on stilts. Shepherds are able to watch numerous Hocks of sheep, for, standing as they do at a height averaging 14ft., they can survey vast expanses1 of land at a glance. Children play about on stilts as easily as if they had been born on them. On stilts the lads and lasses stroll in the twilight ; on stilts also they take part In the graceful country dances. But the most original sight of all is that afforded by a wrestling match be-
tween two combatants so equip-pe-1. They will Hght and wrestle sometimes for ten minutes at a stretch, until both are bruised and bleeding, without even slipping or falling once from their stilta.
