PLAYING THE GAME.
TO THE EDITOR.
Sir, —Political chicanery is now running high all over the Colony, and some candidates who are eager for the fray are going to contest the game without having the ghost of a show, through their being too many Government supporters in the field. In several instances I find two or "three Government candidates out to contest a seat where there is but one Oppositionist. Now this is playing the game right into the hands of Sir Joseph Ward and Co. Nothing pleases them so much as to see such great stupidity amongst fools and their money. He can't claim he is a better or more enthusiastic supporter of the Government of Massey—or that he could do the district he wants to represent more good than his Masseyite opponent ; he can only abuse him and his character to no good end, and the consequence is the Wardite, goes in flying. Do you twig ?—I am, etc.
COATSITE.
