GUM LANDS COMMISSION.

(By telegraph.) MANGONUI, Wednesday. The Gum Lands Commission arrived here Sunday, a fortnight being spent in constant travel over the whole gum reserves oftheMangonui County. Reserves comprising one hundred thousand * acres* have already been inspected and dealt with' Witnesses examined, various centres and much valuable information was obtained bearing directly on commission's, investigations. The commissioners, were struck with the large stretches of good country passed from the crown, awaiting closer settlement. More vigorous developmentwas wanted. They consider the North has great possibilities and would easily carry a verj^ large population, adding very materially to the near future of the Dominion's agricultural wealth. The Commission leaves here Wednesday, en route for Onaeawai, via Kaeo thence to Kohukohu.
