A Spring Door Latch.

We all know the annoyance caused by the doors of our allotment huts, poultry houses, etc., springing open, after we have closed them carelessly without seeing to it that the catch has dropped into its proper position. The, arrangement shown in the

picture, however, obviates the trouble the latch catching- every time. All you need to make this safety latch is a penny spring and a I^-inch screw. One end of the spring is fixed to the latch and the other to the door, care being taken that the tension is not too . strong. If you have no means of drilling a hole in the latch to take the spring, nn almost equally efficient job can be made of it by fixing it with wire.
