Belgium has an umbrella lending society. The subscription is but five francs a year. Each member, on paying his subscription, receives an aluminium counter stamped with a number. When caught by the rain, all that a subscriber has to do is merely to go to the nearest restaurant, tobacco shop, or big store, anil, in exchange for his aluminium ticket he is immediately given a sound umbrella.
