STILL ON PLUNDERING THE FORESTS.
KAIHU AND MR J. TROUNSON ON THE
Hon. W. H. Herries, Minister for Railways, arrived at Dargaville on Monday evening, and, accompanied by Mr Gordon Coates, M.p. } and representatives of the local governing bodies, and Kaipara Chamber of Commerce, pro.ceeded by train to Waima on Tuesday.
At Whatoro, in answer to deputations, the Minister stated that he would see to the betterment of passenger convenience on the Valley trains, and that he would endeavour to expedite the completion of the line extension from Kaihu to "Waima.
At Kaihu he was interviewed on several matters. Regarding the right of the Maoris to erect their private telephone line on Crown lands, he advised those concerned to forward/a petition through Mr Coates. He promised to look into the matter making a rebate of the annual rental of railway sections.
