HELENSVILLE TOWN BOARD

The fortnightly meeting of the Town Board, held on Sstnrday, was attended by Messrs Jas. McLeod (chairman), J. AWilson, A. Becroft, and Jas. Hand. THE LIBRARY The Board's solicitor (Mr Ziman) advised the Board of the procedure to follow to get the Library transfer fixed up free from stamp duty. MINISTERIAL VISITS The Hon. W. E. Massey (Prime Minister) notified the Board that he would be visiting Helensville shortly, but could not say the exact date. The Hon W. H. Herries (Minister for Railways) advised that he would be passing through Helensville on the 6th inst., but would be able to stay longer on his return from Dargaville.. THE HOT SPRINGS The Tourist and Health Department informed the Board that the GeneralManager'of the Department was absent but on his return the matter of visiting the Hot Springs so as to organise some scheme of development, would have attention. A RE-VALUATION WANTED The Board decided to apply to the Valuation Department for a re-valuation of the town district. DRAINAGE CONNECTION Mr Hafford asked the Board to provide a main drain near his residence in Fourth Avenue, so that a drainage connection could be made. —The work to be done as soon as the Board has sufficient funds. MORE LOANS WANTED It was decided to hold a Ratepayers' meeting on the 16th inst. to consider further loan proposals. TO ENTERTAIN A MINISTER* The Board intend to entertain the Hon. F. M. B. Fisher on his visit to Helensville, the matter being left in the hands of the Chairman. PROTESTS ABOUT RATES Letters were received from Messrs Thomas Elliot and D. Stewart, protesting against the drainage rates on their property along Awaroa road, and a similar communication from Mr A. JHill re his land on the Ratawhiri road. FINANCE The Board's general account had a debit of £232, and the Domain Board a debit of £231.
