STOCK SALES. THE N.Z. LOAN AND MERCANTILE AGENCY CO. LTD. At Westfield Yards on Wednesday, fat cattle were yarded in average supply, and met with a ready sale at advanced rates on last week's quotations. Best oxen sold to 31s per 1001b, others 20s to 29s ; cows and heifers, 23s to 28s. Steers sold at from £8 10s to £13 12s 6d ; cows and heifers, £5 to £1B 17s 6d. A consignment of steers from Mr. E. Allen, Cambridge, averaged £13 12s 6d. Veal calves came forward in good numbers, and sold well. Medium weights sold at from £2 15s to £3 13s, others £2 to £2 14s, lighter from 30s to 395, smaller 15s to 28s, fresh dropped 4s to 12s 6d. Sheep were yarded in average numbers and sold at improved rates, wethers advancing from two to three shillings per head. Best wethers sold at from 22s 6d to 245, others £1 to 22s 3d ; heavy ewes 17s 9d to 225, others 15s 6d to 17s 6d. Lambs in short supply, advanced in prices. Best quality 17s 9d to £1 Is 6d, others 16s 3d te 17s 3d. Pigs came forward in full supply, and sold at late rates. Baconers sold at from £3 to £3 lls ; large porkers, £2 5s to £3, porkers, £1 10s to £2 4s ; slips 18s to 23s ; weaners, 6s to 12s 6d. : « Messis.Alfred Bucklajad and Sons report :— On Wednesday. April 1, at our weekly Westfield fat stock market, we penned beef to the number of 295 head. The quality was a decided improvement on last week. There was a stronger demand and values were from 10s to 15s per head in advanced of last report. Choice ox sold to £1 lls ; prime, £1 7s 6d to £19s ; cows and heifers, £1 to £1 7s. Steers ranged in price from £8 10s to £13 12s 6d ; cows and heifers, £4 to £9 15s ; a draft of 38 choice quality steers from Messrs. W. R. and Geo. Coxhead, o^ Waitakaruru, averaged £11 14s 6d, and 16 prime bullocks from W. C. Morgan, Fairlands, Cambridge, averaged £11 4s 9d. The 70 veal offered sold at slightly better figures. Heavy suckers, £214s to £3 10s; medium suckers, £1 14s"to £212s ; lighter £1 9s to £1 lls; light, 12s to £1 3s ; fresh-dropped, 3s to 10s. Sheep came forward in full numbers and met with a firmer sale at prices which were fully 2s per head higher than last quotation. Extra heavy prime wethers, £1 4s 6d to £1 5s 6d ; heavy prime, £1 2s to £1 4s ; medium to heavy, 18s 6d to £1 Is ; light and unfinished, 15s 6d to 17s 9d ; best heavy prime ewes, 19s to £1 Is ; good, 15s 6d to 18s ; others, lls to 14s 9d. sold). A fair supply of lambs sold steadily at late figures. Heavy prime, 19s to £1 Is 6d (Mr J. W. Whyte, of Mangere, making the latter price); good, 14s 6d to 17s ; lighter, 12s to 13s 6d ; unfinished, 10s to lls 6d ; stores, 7s to 9s. (308 sold). Pigs again came forward in large numbers. Baconers were a trifle firmer, porkers remainded about the same, Rough choppers brought from £2 10s to £3 lls ; baconers, £2 16s to £2 10s ; lighter, £2 7s to £2 15s ; large porkers, £1 16s to £2 6s ; lighter, £1 10s to £1 15s ; small, £1 4s to £1 8s ; stores, 18s to £1 2s ; weaners, 5s 6d to 9s ; suckers, 3s (236 sold).
