STOCK SALES.
Messis Alfred Buckland and Sons report :—
On Wednesday, March 18th, at our weekly Westfield fat stock market, our supply of beef numbered 391 head. There was only a moderate demand, and generally values suffered a further drop of 10s per head ; choice ox sold to £1 Bs, prime £1 5s 6d to £1 8s ; cows and heifers, £1 Is to £1 4s ; steers ranged in price from £7 10s to £13 ; cows and heifers, £4 to £9 ss. Calves came forward in increased numbers, including a large number of heavy suckers. Prices for these were easier. C hoice medium suckers sold at late rates runners, to £5 16s ; heavy suckers, £2 10s to £3 10s ; medium suckers r £1 15s to £2 8s ; lighter, £1 6s to £1 13s ; smail and fresh dropped, 6s to 18s ; weedy, 3s (87 sold). Fat sheep continue to come forward.in large numbers, (2206 sold) ; really prime mutton sold without alteration from last week ; unfinished sheep were again a trifle easier ; extra heavy prime wethers, £1 8s to £1 4s 3d ; heavy prime, £1 to £1 2s ; medium to heavy, 17s to 19s ; light and unfinished, 14s 6d to 16s 6d.; extra heavy prime ewes, 18s to £1 0s 6d ; good, 14s to 17s ; others, 10s to 13s 6d. The 561 lambs yarded with a brisk sale ; heavy prime, 17s to 18s; good 14s 6d to 16s 6d ; lighter, 12s to 13s 6d ; unfinished, 9s to 11s 6d. Pigs penned in large numbers ; baconers and porkers sold at late quotations, other classes, on account of the number yarded, were considerably easier. Heavy baconers, £2 18s to £3 8s ; lighter, £2 11s to £2 16s, large porkers, £2 5s to £2 10s ; lighter, £1 16s to £2 4s ; small, £1 5s to £113s 5 small stores, 18s to £1 4s ; weaners, 6s to 11s (281 sold).
