THE PUBLIC LIBRARY.
The negotiations in progress for some months past for the transfer of the Public Library from Trustees to the Town Board have now practically reached finality. The transfer has been duly, signed by the Trustees, and now awaits a similar attachment on the past of the Board. It will shortly be the Board's privilege to outline its method of management of the institu. tiou, which is generally expected to be a great improvement on the system followed in the past. That a responsible Librarian should be appointed is imperative if better results are to follow the transfer of control. This is a question that will need immediate attention. The voluntary system of attending- to the Library and the oir eolation of books, eto y can be vastly improved (although book-lovers are greatly indebted' to those who have yiven their services in that capioity for many years past), With the appointment of a responsible person f> take charge of the library it should soon become an institution 01 great educational benefit to the community. Doubtless the Board will also take advantage of the experience of members of the late library committee and add two or three, as representing the subscribers, to its committee of , management, j
