BOWLING
Good progress is being- made with the excavation work for the Helensville club's bowling green. The site looks much more promising for a green than formerly. It is hoped to have the green formed aud grassed this autumn.
The Awaroa club had rather bad luck with their green, which has grown very little grass and plenty of weeds. It was originally _ expected to be playing on it this season when sown in the spring, but this has not turned out to be the case. A different form of treatment has lately been decided upon, which is sure to have better results. The green and appointments should be tip-top for next season.
Many of the bowlers, of both clubs, are following their favourite game at the Parakai green, and generally enjoy themselves. Last Saturday a rink of Devonport palyers showed some of the Helensville players a few wrinkles, *
