At Westfield yards on Wedneaday fat cattle came forward in average supply, and showed an improvement in price on last week's rates, best oxen selling to 31s per 100 lb, others 27s to 30s, cows and heifers 24s to 28s, steers from L8 to Ll2 12s 6d, cows and heifers L4 to £8 15s. Veal calves were penned in average numbers and sold at late rates, mediumweight vealers selling to £3, lighter £1 10s to £2 15s, others £1 to 30s. Sheep were yarded scarcely in average numbers and sold at last week's rates. Best wethers sold from 22s 3d to 23s 9d, others 18s to 21s 9d, inferior fatted 15s 9d to 17s 6d, heavy ewes 18s to 21s 9d, others 13s 6d to 16s 9d. Lambs, in full supply sold well, best fetching 15s 3d to 17s 9d, others 11s 6d to 14s 9d. Pigs came forward in usual numbers, and sold at fully late rates, baconers selling to £3 Bs, large porkers £2 5s to £2 17s, small porkers £1 10s to £2 2s, slips £1 to 265.
