CONSTABULARY CORPS TOR FARMERS-
ORGANISED AS MILITARY BODY
The rules and regulations have now been sent out in connection with the establishment of a mounted constabulary corps in Auckland which it is proposed to form under the auspices of the Now Zealand Farmers' Union.
To qualify for membership, applicants must not only be of good character and repute, hut must also be resident in the district, with some stake in the country. Preference is to be given to men who have had some military training, and understand the need and value of discipline. Farmers and others directly on indirectly interested in farming, including professional men living ia country districts, are to be elected.
The organisation is to be run as if it were a military body, under rules and regulations as laid down in the Kind's and other Army Regulations and New Zealand regulations. It is provided that the force shall be formed into troops of 24 men' and one officer, four troops to a squadron, four squadrons to a regiment, and two or more regiments to a brigade.
The declaration of allegiance is as follows- "1 desire to join the Farmers' Union Constabulary Corps, and I undertake, as long as I remain a member of the corps, at all times to maintain discipline, and to obey the Commander. General and the officers repre. senting his authority ; to a< knowledge the executive'of the N.2J.F.U., Auckland Province, as the supreme governing body of the Corps, and to make myself acquainted with and duly observe the Rules, Regulations and Instructions now or hereafter authorised or promulgated by order of die Executive Council, God save the King." A distinct badge, showing the New Zealand ensign, and surrounded by live motto, "'God and our Rights," shall be provided and handed to each member on election. The rules set forth the method of procedure in organising squadrons, and provides that there must be at least one half-yearly parade of all ranks, either by troops, or as nifiy be arranged-
