Marvellous progress lias been mado in the construction of the PanamaPacific International Exposition, which will be held in 1915 in celebration of the official opening of the Panama Canal. Passengers on ships entering San Francisco harbour now. behold the frames of the huge exhibition palaces, which arc grouped about vast interior courts, and present, from afar, a single arohitectual theme. The buildings are the loftiest exhibition structures ever erected, rising to heights of one hundred and ninety, two hundred and seventy, three hundred and fifty, and four hundred and thirty feet. The grouping gives the effect- of a vast Oriental city, with its great towers, domes and minarets. The grounds parallel the harbonr, on the north, for almost three miles ,On the south, east and west they are surrounded hy to'fi ering hills of varying contours.
