Town Board Meeting.

A letter was read at Saturday's meetof the Town Board from the Land and Survey Department, authorising the handing over ot the Public Libraray to the Town Board. In reply to the Board's letters asking fur improved telephone communication with Auckland the Post and Telegraph Departnieut stated that the alterations now being carried out would result in the desired improvement. The chairman (Mr Jas. McLeod) expressed dissatisfaction with the Department replies, and a resolution was adopted again urging that Ilelensville have a separate wire for communication with Auckland As the outcome of a letter from Mr W Downer, asking for a footpath formation in Mill Street, it was decided that the work be done as soou as possible. The chairman was appointed to attend a conference of lepreseutatives of local bodies at Auckland on the 18th inst., on the question of maintenance of main roads in Auckland province. It was reported that good progress was being made with the construction of the dam in connection with the water supply scheme.
