A FAREWELL SOCIAL.
A very pleasant evening was held a* Mr and Mrs Henry White's invitation, at their residence, Helensville, on Monday last. The occasion being a send-off to Miss Nellie Caundle, by the members of the St. Matthew's Church choir, prior to her marriage. There were about thirty present. Cards and music were indulged in, Songs being sung by Misses Rimmer, Ganley, J. Caundle, Mrs Chandler; Messrs R. Sprerton, J. c. Rimmer, C. S. White and the Rev. c. J. Merton. Mr Screaton also played selections on his banjo.
After Supper the Rev. Merton in a few well chosen words, referred to the long association of Miss Caundle with the church choir, and the loss the Church would sustain on her departure, and on behalf of the Choir presented her with a very handsome silver entree dish. Miss Caundle suitay responded, the Company present singing " For She's a jolly good Fellow." Before dispersing Mr Merton (on behalf of Mrs caundle), thanked Mr and Mrs white for the splendid evening they had given, the Company, singing " For they are jolly good Fellows " The party finally dispersed about midnight—after singing of " Auld Lang syne.
