1863- -1913 MAUNGATUROTO JUBILEE.
«. (From Our Own Correspondent). The Jubilee celebrations commenced with a Thanksgiving service in the Public Hall, on Sunday. ■ The showery weather prevented such a large crowd as was% ex-. , pected, but notwithstanding, there ' was' about 150 present. The old people were very well represented, coming in from a great distance. Excellent addresses were given .by Revs. Kickaby (Anglican), _ m ' Speer (Methodist) and Tanner (Congregational), Rev. T. M. Potts conducting, 'Hymn sheets of the service, were distributed round, : "O God our help in ages past," being the first to be rendered. During the afternoon Mrs D. " McLean sang a solo, " Me-wipes all tears away," which was highly appreciative. The Service which occupied all of two hours, was very impressive and instructive .; throughout. T^_, Visitors and old former residents arriving every day now. A large crowd is expected by express on Tuesday. The various committees are hard at work to-day, Monday, getting all preparations completed. Given fine weather a very large attendance is expected
