A POPULAR PETITION.

TRAIN FOR SUNDAY'S. MILK —AND SUNDAY HEALTH

SEEKERS

THE following important Petition addressed to the Hon. Minister for Railways, prays for a much felt want for the good of the district generally and Auckland Health seekers in particular, and unless it is favourably received then we shall marvel upon what grounds. The Petition is being widely circulated, and will be freely distributed on Show Ground for signature, on tomorrow, Thursday. WE, the undersigned Petitioners, would respectfully bring under ' your notice as 'follows : — That the time has arrived when a Train should run on the Kaipara Line on Sunday, between Auckland and Helens- '. ville. Your Petitioners desire to ag^jLftsubmit some of the reasons for §P^%^f(ich. request. * (i) —The city of Auckland must draw part of its milk supply from the Kaipara district, and Helensviile being a dairying centre would greatly benefit by such trains ; and were the train service available it would also tend to prevent a milk famine such as took place in Auckland in 1913. (2) —The Helensville Hot Springs, situated 38 miles from Auck'>i land, are becoming so well known a^f or their curative properties that ▼ the population of Auckland, and those, living along the Kaipara line, urgently require the benefits to be derived from them, and Sunday is the only day available to the masses of the people. (3)— Steamers leave Dargavilie on Sundays for Helensville, and a train leaving on their arrival would be a great convenience to the travelling public. (4)— Trains now run onSundays fc.^ from Auckland to Swanson. The wfh extra distance to Helens ville would not incur much expense, nor extra labour on the employees and would be a sound, paying proposition. And your Petitioners, will ever pray ' ■
