Case of Theft

A case of theft is reported to have taken place at Stewart Bros, hairdressing saloon on Monday evening. Mr Ward, who is in charge, went home to tea about 6. p.m, and about half an hour later the back door of the shop was found open. So far as Mr Ward knew.the door was locked prior to his departure, but it may have been unlocked by someone in the saloon before closing time. A sum of about 14s in cash was taken, but, the strange feature of the affair is that 12s lOd was left in the till. A local residence recently showed unmistakeable evidence of someone having been through the place, presumably in search of cash so, that people should take warning from thpse incidents, in ihe absence of Constable Driscoll, mid see that precautions are taken ngp.inst theft. If any suspicious characters are seen hanging about word should bo sent to Special Constables W. L. Bradly or Dwonyhouse, who will doubtless take prompt action in the matter.
