Miss Flynn, of Makarau, who is . engaged in business at Kaukapakapa, fell off her bicycle on Saturday, and had an arm broken as the outcome.

Owing to a printer's error the names of Mrs Merton and Mrs Chandler, who were in charge of the Plain work, stall at the Bazaar held by St. Matthew's Ladies' Guild, were omitted from our report in last issue. Mrs Merton is president of the Guild and with Mrs Chandler and other members has worked euthsiastically to bring about a successful result.

The death occurred the other day of Mr G. Laurenson, M.P. for Lyttelton, who was held in high esteem by his political opponents as well as by his friends. Excellent testimonies were paid in the House to the deceased's ability and good qualities as a politician prior to the adjournment out of respect to him.

The funeral of the late Rev. C. E". Beecroft, who died at the Wesley Parsonage, Mount Albert, on Monday, took place on Thursday. An impressive service was held at the Mount Albert Methodist Church, which was filled with friends of the deceased from all parts of the city and suburbs. The service was conducted by the Rev. George Bond, chairman of the district, and he was assisted by the Revs. W. Ready, D. Mc jNTicoll, T. G. Brooke, and C. H. Oarland. The latter, in his address, referred to tbe ability, culture, devotion, and saintly character of the decased, who, he said, would be much missed from the ranks of the Church's active workers.

•To mark the occasion of her approaching marriage, Miss F. Donovan was the recipient on Friday last, of a very pretty Wedgewood salad bowl and service, with silver mountings, from the Helensville Musical Society. The presentation was made by Mr H. W. Stringer, secretary. Miss Donovan was one of* tbe founders of the Society, and by reason of her musical talent has &1 ways been a prominent member.
