Workers on Strike.
As the outcome of the strike by the watersido workers at Wellington and the Huntly strike, the Auckland watersidera numbering about 1,300 have bean called out also. The position in Wellington is be** coming a serious one. The strikers are practically taking the law into their own hands. They are preventing others from working on any of the boats or wharves and are setting up a position that law-abiding citizens will soon find intolerable. A large number of farmers and others are organising in the country districts to proceed to Wellington and handle the cargo, whilst the Police authorities are being supplied with horses. Special constables are also being sworn in to act if required. Tho position in Auckland will quickly become an acute uno. It is expected that all the coal miners will be called out on strike, and the last of coal supplies will quickly embarass shipping as well as other industries. There will doubtless also be great loss of perishable cargo unless some satisfactory arrangements can be made for unloading.
