School Committee.

The monthly meeting of the Helensville School Committee took place last evening, Mr Becroft presiding : other members present were Messrs W. W. L. Bradly, A. M. Hammond, J. H. Constable, H. Thompson and F. R. Eames (secretary). Fencing School Grounds. No tenders were received for the fencing of the newly-acquired ground at the school, for which the Board authorised a grant of £30 for carrying out the work. After discussion it was eventually decided that the Chairman be authorised to get the work done for the amount mentioned, on the motion of Messrs Bradly and Hammond. J School Enlargement, The Education Board advised that after consideration of the Inspector's report in regard to the question of enlarging the school, the Board had decided to apply to the Minister of Education for a grant to provide additional accommodation for sixty pupils and also for the enlargement of the school porch. The Committee considered the Board's reply very satisfactory. General. The Headmaster's report showed the Roll number at 204, and the average attendance for the past month 183. Mr H. Thompson was appointed visiting member for the ensuing month. Other routine affairs-and sanitary matters were discussed, accounts were passed, and the meeting adjourned.
