Helensville A. and P. Association.
A General Committee meeting of the above took place last Wednesday evening in the Library, Mr Jas. McLeod presiding also present Messrs J. A. Wilson,'W. Ellett, H. Aitkenhead, R. Nicholls, J. C. Rimmer, N, W. Kimmer, J. Nicholls, Jas. Newman., C. H. Spinley and Jas. Archibald. On the motion of Mr SpiaJey, seconded by the Chairman, a vote of congratulation was tendered to Mr H. Aitkenhead on his safe retain from a trip to the Home Country. Suggested Sunday Tjraijt. Correspondence was read from tha Townßoard, Messrs J. G. Coates, A. M. Myers. J. S. Dickson and A, M. Glover M's P., promising to support the Society in the matter of the proposed Sunday train between Helensville and Auckland. The Hon. Minister for Kail ways (Mr W. H. Herries) wrote promising to reconsider his adverse decision on the matter; and later replied to the effect that the service could not be granted, as the milk supply from Helensville to Auckland only totalled about 700 gallons per day and over 4 thousand was wanted to make the train payable. In the ensuing discussion it was contended that the revenue for passer> ger traffic to the Springs would be far greater than the milk revenue. Mr R. Nicholla strongly argued that the question should not be allowed to drop, and that a public meeting should be called to further discuss the matter. Mr Aitkenhead and the Chairman expressed similar views, Eventually on the motion of Messrs R. Nicholls and Spinley, it was decided to ask the Helensville Town Board, to convene a public meeting on the question of getting a Sunday train to and from Helensville^ New Members. The following new members were elected: Messrs"E. Thurlow Field, R. G. Walters, H. Anderson, G. Robinson and Woodward and Hoskiug The folio win 7 were added to the Ladies' Committee: Mesdames Jas. Newman, Logan Me Leod, R. Hoe, R. T. Nicholls and Lochburn. General. The Chairman reported that he had made enquiries in regard to purchasing a safe but had not yot come to any decision. Snow Schedule. The revision of Show Schedule was then taken. When this is finally completed it will be found that a number of new classes have been added.
The Executive Committee met sub. sequentiy and passed a resolution authorising the Secretary to sign cheques. A number of accounts were also approved for payment.
