The Domain Board decided on Saturday to again urge upon the Government the neaossity for a grant being' voted for the erection of ladies' swimming lath and twelve private bath-rooms.

Some Kuawai farmers have been making enquires as to supplying cream to the local factory, and they have been infornied that the Company can only deal with them on the same footing as with its suppliers. The A. and P. Association's sections adjoining the show grounds are now open for selection. Plans are now on view and particulars can be obtained from the Secretary (Mr W. H. Hutchinson) and from Mr .T. C. Rimmer. At the Domain Board meeting on Saturday an account from the Railway Advertising Co, in reference to the notice boards dealing with the Hot Springs was deferred, as it was considered the company had not fulfilled its contract to clean and varnish boards. The installation of new plant and the alterations being carried out by Mr J". Simcock at the local dairy factory are now well advanced. Some delay has been met with owing to timber not coming to hand as expected. The new suction gas plant will be given a trial run this week. A young man named Ernest Lucas was brought before Mr E. Thurlow Field J.P. last Friday, at the local Courthouse, on a charge of vagrancy. The accused j pleaded guilty to the charge and was I sentenced to 30 days' imprisonment. A farmer in the Palmerston North district in conversation with a reporter, atated that in. all probability before another season had elapsed there ■would be a scarcity in bacon pigs, moro especially during the winter months. He knew a number of farmers who were waking up to the fact that to fatten pigs during the winter was not the profitable game that some people estimated it to be, and more especially at the prices that have been offered in the winter months in the past. The unsatisfactory position of affairs at the local railway station, which makes it necessary to cross the metals to got to the station, nearly caused an accident on Monday morning (and we understand there have been some narrow escapes previously), Mr J, McLeod (Town Board Chairman) and Mr J. A. Wilson were walking along, the former on the side nearest some approaching trucks which were being shunted on the siding. Owing to the heavy gale and the fact that they were conversing they did not hear these trucks coming along, and but for a warning shout from Mr Alex. Hunter an accident must have happened. It is about time the railway authorities did something to effect an improvement.
