THE Kaipara Advertiser, AND WAITEMATA CHRONICLE. WEDNESDAY, JULY 16, 1913. ON THE RAILWAYS.
There have beeD numerous complaints this -winter from people travelling between Helensvillo and Auckland on the railway as to the absence of
footwarmcrs. It is contended that the Kaipara line has now outgrown the infancy stage and should rank equally with other branches for attention to the comfort of its passengers. A few weeks ago district farmers were talking of making strong representations to the railway authorities for the installation of footwarmers on the Kaipara trains. There is no doubt that many jjeople avoid travelling as much as possible during the cold and wet weather; and it is argued that the cost to the Department would easily be met by the increased patronage from the public. Some of the trains take a long time to do the journey between the two places mentioned, and people are half perished en route. The Kaipara line has long had a reputation for the slowness of its trains, and it is about time that it was noted forsomethiug more desirable, viz., the comfort of its passengers. j
