Sabbath Reform.
TO THE EDITOR,
Sir—My last letter contained a solemn warning against a powerful organisation whose members claim to be working for a better observance of the '* Lord's day." They believe that because the commandments are being tramp-leo^-underfoot, the many fearful disasters are falling upon land and sea, and that the keeping of the Sabbath which continually brings to mind the Creator will lead to a reverence for all His law. TdGr object sought is a most worthy one, and many of them believe they are doing the will of God ; but they will never get that which they seek, for while they are trying to force others to keep a false Sabbath (the first day of the w«j||they themselves are tramril^underfoot the true Sabbath of the Lord. " Can the blind lead the blind ?" Shall they not both fall into the ditch ? "He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer is an abomination." " And Jesus said unto them, full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition."
If we would be genuine reformers we ought to look into God's Word, examining ourselves first as King Josiah did, and when we find our fathers have handed down to us a false Sabbath we should turn to the truth as Josiah did ; two Kings, 22. "No one can say he is keeping God's Commandments, while breaking His Holy day." James 2 ; 10.
People don't know what harm they do by teaching th c first day of the week is the Sabbath. Why this false Sabbath is called the " mark of the beast " in Revelation 13, and in the fourteenth chapter there is a very solemn warning against keeping that d ay, for upon the disobedient will fall the seven last plagues, eh 16. Therefore this work called '" Sabbath Reform " is indeed the " wolf in sheep's clothing."- The worst of Satan's deceptions, for instead of leading people to keep the Sabbath of the Lord, it leads direct to Sabbath desecration, and eternal death. We know there are some goodhearted souls in this movement, for God says so, and shows them the way of escape. Rev 1: 3. G.J. (To be continued.)
