On Saturday, 10th Febiuary, the Port Albert tennis and cricket clubs journeyed here and played matches with the local clubs. In both matches Maungaturoto was successful.

In the cricket match the local team made 167 runs to Port Albert's 76. For Maungaturoto the best scores were F. Cullen 54, T. Knight-bridge 33 and R. Lewis 16. For Port Albert, A. Reid made 23, being highest for them, A. Becroft coming next with 17, carrying his bat right through the innings, . In the tennis the local team won by 6 sets—Maungaturote 12 sets, 129 games ; Port Albert 6 sets, 95 games. (Maungaturoto player comes first in each case). Gent's Singles—H. A. Wilson v. C. The long continued dry spell is having a bad effect on the dairying here. The supply at the factory is greatly reduced. A number of the 'tanks are dry and many people have had to cart water, and it is hoped we shall soon have rain. Building is still brisk, new houses for Messrs A. Fmlayson and WorthiDgton are well under way, and a shop and dwelling is nearly completed loir Mr Taylor. Mr Ingram is shortly to commence building on his section on the Bickerstaff c. The additions to the hall will shortly be put in hand and should prove a boon to the district.
