Bowling.
During the past few weeks bowlers have boen numerous on tlie Hot Springs green, members of the Helensville Club getting in some solid practice in anticipation of the return match with Riverhead, and the probability of a team attending the BowK ing Tournament at Rotorua. Some good games have b^en recorded at different times, but one of the most interesting and enthusiastic if not brilliant was plajed last Thursday afternoon, between (No. 1 team) Messrs Jno. Simcook,, R. F. Park and W. Cullen (skip), and (No. 2 team) Messrs E, 0. McLeod, H. W. Stringer and W. Harris (skip). From the commencement it was easily seen the leader and skip of No. 1 team were not playing up to their usual good form, while No. 2 team playing a moderate game had the advantage of 8 to 1 on tbe 7th. head, and at the 14th head had increased their lead 13~2, it was not chronicled whose bowl was lying- the one up. but Park was credited through an opponent giving "kitty" a bump; at the 18th head No. 2 were 28 when No. l struck a Waterloo and scored two owing to a well put curler of the skip. From this to the 21st head No 2 scored 5 to their opponent's 1, being the victors by 33 to 5. Park showed some good play for the losers, his leader and skip not striking form at all. For the winners Harris played well, while Stringer once did (so we are informed) score three at one head ; occasionally some of the others got in a good one. Several heads were very evenly con" tested, but at others " kitty" had all the best of it, no one getting within feet of her. A return match, is to be played shor%, when probably the better heads will be more even,
