Passing of the Home Kule bill. Business premises close at 12 noon on Show Day. The Auckland Farmers Union held their usual monthly sale yesteiday, when there was a fair yarding, and prices showed a slight decline in cattle. The Auckland Farmers request clients to be paiticular to have .all sheep entered for their sales dipped and branded in accordance with the act. Notice is given in another column that the local branch of the Union Bank of Australia Ltd., will be closed all day on Wednesday, 29th January, being a special Bank Holiday. Mr Marsh, of Wharehine, was operated on for appendicitis, at the local Private Hospital last Wednesday by Dr Marchesini of Auckland with Dr Meinhold. The operation was successful and Mr Marsh is doing well. Nurse Sew.ell has taken charge of the local Private Hospital since N urse Baily's retirement. Nurse Newdick, of Waihi, has taken up the duties of night nurse, Messrs W. Towitt and H. E. Phillips have a notice in another column that the price of milk on and after February Ist, 1913, will be 2d a pint. Tenders for cleaning the Helensville District School for a term of twelve months are invited and will be received by the Secretary up till Wednesday, 29th inst. The following paragraph taken from the " Ohristchurch Press," of Wednesday, January loth, was forwarded to us by a resident at present, visiting there : — " Yesterday's heat brought the Municipal Tepid Bath particularly into request. As many as 700 ladies used the Bath between'the hours of 2 p.m. aad 9 a.m. which Mr Billsou. the custodian, declares is quite a record attendance on ladies' afternoons. Between one and two hundred men, who did not know the hath was only open to ladies, were turned away during the afternoon aud evening. The patients at the Private Hospital injured in the Motor Car accident are making satisfactory progress. J. Jones, auctioneer, Victoria and Lome St., Auckland.
