THE BENNETT & GHEEN COMPANY, LIMITED. + ANNUAL EEPOET. In presenting this, tlie Fourth Annual Report of the operations of the Company, your Directors are pleased to bo able to state that the business has shown a considerable increase over tho previous year. Tho now Nursery at Bemuera is now in full working order and has proved itself thoroughly satisfactory in every respect. The Branch Nursery at Helensvillo is also looking very well and wo have had a very large percentage of " Strikes" in all classes of stock planted out there. This branch will supply us next season with a much larger quantity of saleable sized trnes and plants, suitable for our requirements, than in past seasons. During the last year we have rnj ceived about £-150 of goods from Helensville, which is a big increase over tho previous year/ Our chief difficulty has been the shortness of money for development purposes. As you are all aware tho Company was floated j with a very small capital, and we have been hampeied ever since we com-: menced on account <>f capital i'or development. We have issued shares to the extent of £3,5130, and of these £2,422 were paid to vendors for the stock and laud, which left only £1.106 for working capital, which is very small indeed, considering the it mount i of business wo are doing and also the faci that in the winter we have- nearly £2,000, or twi:'e the amount of the subscribed capital out ou the books. Our sales were £3,500, oi aa increase of £600 over the previous period, which is very satisfactory and shows a steady growth of the business, on the other hand, tho Commission paid has boen much larger than usual, owing to tho iuefc that we have had three travellers ii tho road part of the year in addition to Mr Green. -| The piospi'ct'- for the coming season are very bright and we confidently expect that' we shall have a reeoid year. A good profit has been made, and it { is the intention of your Directors to recommend a dividend of 6 per cent payable on 30th June, 1913. Of the two Directors to retire by rotation, Messrs Walter Taylor and J. L. Stewart, Mr Stewart does not seok re-election, but Mr Taylor, being eligible, again offers himself for reflection. There being no other nominations, your Directors think it would be best to leave the selection to them.
