Messis Alfred Buckland and Sons, report:— At our -weekly Westneld fat stock market on Wednesday, December 18, we yarded fat cattle to the number of 506 head, which is the heaviest offering we have had for some months. Competition was a bit irregular, but in many cases last week's values were improved on. Choice ox sold to Ll 7s prime Ll 3s to Ll 5s ; cows and heifers, Ll to Ll 4s ; steers ranged in price from L 7 to Ll2 19s; cows and lieifers L 4 5s to Lo 17s Gd. There was also a record entry of fat and young calves, which sold steadily at late rates, a large number being purchased for export. Runners, L 3 10s to Li 9a ; choice heavy suckers, Ll 10s to L 2 7s ; light, Ll to Ll 8s \ small and fresh dropped, 7s tc 16s' weedy 3s to os, (189 sold.) The mutton puns were taxed to their utmost capacity, the number sold being a record for the year. Export buyers were opera:ing, and in consequence, values were firm throughout at prices which were an improvement on late sales.
