A grand entertainment in aid of the Presbyterian Church will be held in the Foresters' Hall on Friday, Dec, 20th, The first par!; of the programme will be a Floral Pole Drill by a number of little girls, and Vocal and musical items by Miss Fletcher, of Murivrai, and the best local talent procurable. The second part will be the reproduction of " Little Red Riding Hood," the cast of characters for which appears in another column. The prices aro 2s and Is, and be iv time to avoid the crubh. The Motutara annual sports\ are advertised to tako place on New Years' Day on the reserve Motutara, to .commence at 12 noon. This is W ideal place for spending a day, being one of the best watering places nortlb. of Auckland, and with a sports programme of 15 events, together with valuable trophies as prizes, shoul d draw a large number of pleasure seek~ ers to spend the first day of the New Year there.
A Railway refreshment room is advertised for sale, good chance for energetic couple. A team of bowlers from Eiverhead were visiting the Springs green to-day and trying conclusions with a team for the newly formeu Helensville Club. Mr and Mrs D. Sullivan express their thanks to all those who sympathised with them in their recent sad breavement, Messrs Durand and Tren grove notify in another column that they have purchased the Helensville Sawmill, and are prepared to supply timber at cur* rent rates, The Te Pua Annual School picnic will be held on Thursday, 19th inst., on Mr W. Moyle's farm, to which all are cordially invited. A dance will be held in the. evening in the Parakai Hall. A notice appears in our advertising column that the annual picnic in con*nection with the Parkhurst School will take place in the School grounds on Wednesday nest, the 18th inst. This pianic is always an enjoyable affair, and as all are cordially invited there should be a good attendance. Mr E. LeEoy, tent maker, of Auck~ land, has a replace advertisement on our first page, which those who am contemplating camping out, should inspect before buying their necessary ooverings elsewhere; the illustration shows one of the most comfortable tents yet made for camping or sleeping out. The sound of the Motor Lorry is again with us. We hope to have a fixed time table advertised in connection with the Hot Springs Helensville traffic shortly. The usual buss conveyance is running more frequently than heretofore. A social in connection with St. Matthew's Church will be held in the Foresters' Hall, on Friday evening next, Dee. 13th. A good musical programme has been arranged, and there will be refreshments and dancing, and as this is the last of the year, it is hoped all parishioners and friends will be in attendance. We regret to learn that Nurse Bailej of the local Hospital is to leave that institution in the New Year, to leturn to the Homeland, where she will take up matrimonal duties. Those who have been under her care, will be sorry to lose her, but at the same time will wish her years of happiness and prosperity in her new duties. Master Lionel Scott, son of Mr S, F. Scott, who some G weeks ago enter* ed the local hospital seriously ill and not expected to recover has, to the glad surprise of his parents and friends made a remarkable recovery under the treatment of Dr. Meinhold, and will be returning to his home this week, and it is hoped that he will soon gpt quit 6 strong again. Mr and Mrs Scott speak in high gratitude of Dr. Aleinhold and Nurses Bailey and Sew* ell for their kind attention and care of Master Lionel.
