REGATTA CLUB.
A meeting of the Committee of the Regatta Club was held in the Public Library on Friday. Present* Messrs Tui McEwin (in the chair), W. Scott, W. Bradly, W. Milward, G. Cox, G. Bennett, F. Tucker; also present Mr W. Laird, timekeeper, and Mr G. Willis, of Shore Committee. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. The following letters., were then read : — From Messrs Campbell & Ehrenfried Co., enclosing £1 Is, and wishing the Club every success. / From the Great Northern Brewery, enclosing £1 Is, and wishing every success. From. Messrs Laidlaw Leeds sending an E.P; Jelly Dish, and wishing the .Regatta ever prosperity, From MrJas. Stewart stating that he wished to have his name removed from the list of members. From Mr Bowles re trains for Re - gattaDay, also advertising of same. Tenders for printing from the Wairoa Bell, and J. Jenkins. It was proposed and carried that as Mr Card had not tendered, tenders be held over till next meeting. Tenders for Band from 3rd Regimental Band and Garrison Band for Regatta. It was proposed that the correspondence be received.—Carried. Proposed .that the 3rd Regimental Band be engaged.—Carried. The Secretary read the rules which the general meeting had approved of, and had sent to the Committee for consideration, after they were read it was proposed and carried that the rules as read be adopted, The Secretary, read two notices of motion, the first being to the effect that in his opinion the prizes offered for the coming year were too high and asked the committee to consider reducing them, and that the resolution passed at a previous meeting that the steamer charges be 2s 6d, Adults, Children free, be altered to read Adults 2s 6d,^ Children Is, At a subsequent meeting held last Friday, correspondence from Capt. Hammond 'and Messrs J. Burns & Co was read and received. . It was decided that the Secretary obtain printing from the lowest tender. The following programme was adopted in place of the one dra»vn up on Oct. 18th: — Sealed Handicap. First Prize, £3 ; 2nd prize, £) ; 3rd prize, trophy. Punt Bace for Fishermen. First prize, £1 10s; 2nd, trophy. Zealandia Cup. First prize, Zealandia Cup; 2nd, £1 Is. Punt Race, other than Fishermen. First prize, £1 10s; 2nd, trophy. Helensville Regatta Cup. First prize, Cup and cash for £8 ; 2nd, £2; 3rd, trophy. Fishermen's Boat Race. First prize, £5 ; 2nd, £2. Auxiliary Lauch Race. First prize, £3 10s; 2nd prize, £1 10s. Consolation Motor Launch Race. First prize, £4. 2nd, trophy. It was decided that the steamer fares be altered to read, Adults 2s 6d, Children Is. The supplying of the Cup was given to Mr Laird at his quotation. The Secretary was instructed to make necessary arrangements re feteainers.
