The meeting, presided over by Mr McLeod, though small, was an enthusiastic one, and a number of men enrolled, and many others are giving the Legion their support. Col. Bell gave a very clear and lucid explanation of the work of the Legion, and was able to answer every question put to him in a -satisfactory manner. Mr Wheeler, the Legion organiser, Mr Bridgman, Legion treasurer, and Sergt.-Major Letts were also in attendance.
> Mr Wheeler addressed the meeting on the financial part of the Legion, re cost of outfits, etc-^ At the conclusion Col. BelHM^rposed a hearty vote of thanks'^fc the Chairman for conducting the IB' 5 e? tin'?' In replying, Mr J as . T McLeod moved that a vote of thanks be given Col. Bell and his collegues for coming to Helensville and giving the public a chance of knowing what the Legion was doing or going to do Col. Allen Bell and his colleagues are certainly very enthusiastic in the Legion which perhaps accounts for the tremendous strides it has taken during the past few months, and they also must spend a considerable amount of money in travelling round the country organising fresh subunits which for itself speaks well tor their patriotic spirit. 001. Bell mentioned that he was very favourably impressed by the ready response of some of his audience and was sure that Helensville would be able to have a fine sub-unit before long.
