GIRL PEACE SCOUT
On Monday afternoon last a meeting was held in the Supper Boom of the Foresters' Hall in connection with the Girl Peace Scout movement, Mrs Bedford the President of the Auckland District Council, spoke outlining the good that was being done amongst the girls of Auckland, and Hamilton in the way of prr>p^ring them for the fulfillment of the respossibilltes of life. The girls, were being instructed in variour subjects such as first aid, infant nursing and sick nursing, cooking and invalid, cooking, laudry work, and many other useful things that will prove valuable to them in life.
She spoke of the splendin progress that had been made and expressed her appreciation of the kindly interest taken in the movement by Her Excellency Lady Islington, and express* ing the hope, that Lady Liverpool would also interest herself in work.
Miss E. P. Haysom also, spoke of the organisation and its methods, afterwards pointing out the good effect the movement was having on on the character of the girls in her own troop.
Mr Milner also spoke pointing out that our present educational system failed to prepare our boys and girls for the successful execution of the most vital functions of life, and left them unprepared for the higher respousibilities of life. He pointed out the splendid work that was being done by the movement in that respect aud that it was|worthy of the loyal sup^ port of the people. There was a very small attendance, this was rather disappointing seeing, that so important and excellent a movement was under consideration A small committee was appointed to work for the establishing of a troop in the district.
