(Own Correspondent.) The loug expected Bachelors' Ball took place here on Friday, September 2/th, mthe Public Half. Owing to the inclement weather there were not so many present as was expected, about 60 couples responding to the inn vitations sent out. The Hall was nicely decorated with nikau and ferns interspersed with arum lilys round the walls, and loops of lacopodeum across the hall. The windows, draped with curtains gave the whole a pretty appearance, while the flags hung through the hall finished the effect. Ihe floor was in excellent dancine condition having, been polished the evening before. The music supplied W. Muller (viohn) and McDonald (cornet) was all that could be desired and was played in their usual efficient and *, Ferguson efficiently carried out thedutyofM,C.sand kept dancing going well up to about 3 a.m The catering supplied by Mr B.
