WAIMAUKU NEWS.
(A Correspondent.) Quite a lot of progress has been made in this district this last week or two, notwithstanding the bad weather we have experienced. The members of tho local tennis club are busy getting the courts in order and hope very shortly to have them ready for play. The Post and Telegraph surveyors have been up this past week surveying the line for the telephone from the Waimauku office to the cable hut, connection is also being made to Mrs Foster's home and Ingrams " Muriwai House." The work of burying the cable from Muriwai via Kumeu and Eiverhead is to proceed at once. The Railway Department have a gang of men on putting up the line for the tablet; &o that Waimauku at present is a very busy place. The forthniglitly Euchre and Dance proves as attractive as ever. On Saturday evening, although the weather was anything but good, a largo number attended, 'some coming from a distance of eight miles. The Hall Committee is to be complimented for its efforts in making everyone thoroughly enjoy themselves. Mr Meyers, who has sold Iris farm to Mr Fleming, of Whanganui, will be leaving th= district in a fortnight's time to make his home in Hamilton. We all wish Mr Meyers good luck and feel regret at his departure. The price paid for the farm was 5000 guineas.
