A Helensville Case.
At the Police Court, held at Auckland, on Monday, John Thomas bheldon admitted having attempted to commit suicide at Helensville a few weeks back by cutting hi a throat. It was stated on his behalfc that 14 years ago his wife had un- ■&" successfully applied for a separation order. Smce then he had not heard of her till about last Christmas time when th« news was to the effect that the wife, believing him dead, had married again. He was brooding over this news when he was taken with an acute attack of pneumonia, the two agents contributing to a state of mind which induced his attempt on his life. He was now, his counsel (Mr. Eioimond) said, quite recovered mentally, as. well as physically, and not at all likely to repeat his ot'ence. The case was remanded to enable the police to make further inquiries as to the acensed's condition.
