Dingle, chairman of directors of the Stratford Dairy Co-operative Company, the average production of butter-fat per cow in the herds supplying the Stratford Company last season was lGfi-76 lb. If, said Mr Dingle, sxippliers could increase that production by 30 lb, a cow, it would mean an increase of £18,000 to the company on the year's operations. It may ba noted that in the four herd-testing associations conducted by the Department last year the average cow gave a return of 224 lb or butter- fat. Of course in these cases the herds may be taken to have been rather above the aver-* age of the dairy herds in the respective districts.
