Alfred Buckland & Sons., Sales. ♦ — Messrs Alfred Buckland and Son report:— On Wednesday, August 14th, at our Westfield fat stock market, our entry of beef totalled 348 head, the quality of which was excellent. The demand was a bit irregular, and prices likewise. Generally, values were from 10s to 15s below last week's report, Choice ox sold at Ll 12s, prime Ll 8s 6J to Ll 10s ; cow and heifers, Ll 2s to to Ls 8s ; steers ranged in price from L 8 to Llo 17s 9d ; a truck of choice quality oxen from Mr W. Vosper, of Dingley Doll, Cambridge, averaged Ll3 11s 6d, and 24 steers from Mr B, Eeed, of Waerenga, averaged Ll4 7s ; several other consignments of Waikato cattle averaged over Ll4, ows and heifers L 4 to Ll2 7s 6d. An average supply of fat and young calves sold | freely at fiom L 3 13s to L 4 16s for heavy suckers ; choice medium suckers, L2Bs to L3ss ; lighter, Ll 10s to iL2 os ; small and fresh-dropped, 3s to Ll 6d ;93 sold. There was a heavy yarding of fat sheep. Competition was steady throughout, and values re* alised were much the same as those ruling last week. Extra heavy prime wethers Ll 7s to Ll 8s 6d, heavy Ll 4s to Ll 6s 6d, medium Ll 0s 6d to Ll 3s 9d, unfinished 17s to 19s 6d j extra heavy prime ewes Ll 2s 6d to Ll 4s 9d, good 17s to Ll ls, lighter 13s to 16s 9d, others 8s to 12s6d, well fattened hoggets 16s to 18s b'd; others lis to 14s , 2,701 cheep sold, Pigs were penned in record numbers, and sold under keen competition. On account of the numler, baconers and heaxy porkers were, perhaps, a trifle easier, but choice medium porkers and stores of all descriptions brought late high prices. H. Beaveu's clearance sale, held at Te Pua, Helensville, on Mon~ day, August 12, was well attended, and prices were the best obtained in the district this season. Steers sold at from L 8 2s 9d to Lls : heifers and cows, Lo to L 9 12s 9d. A draft of 20 steers from Mr. Robt. Clark, Patumahoe, averaged LlB ]0s (3d. Veal pens were well tilled, anp sold at late rates, No heavy weights yarded. Medium weights, L 2 2s to L 2 15s; others Ll to Ll los ; smaller and frt:sh, dropped, 3s to 10s.
