FORESTERS' BALL.
AN INDUBITABLE SUCCESS
The 29th Anniversary Ball of Court Star of Helensville, No. 6693, A.0.F., eventuated in the Lodge Hall last Friday evening, August 2nd, and was undoubtedly an incontestable success, nulli secundus, from the Grand March led off by the Chief Ranger, Bro. Hazley, followed by 72 couples, to the splendid music of Meredith's orchestra of 5 instruments, the poussitting throughout the whole evening being jocundly entered into by the 105 couples who were present. The interior of the hall had been artistically decorated with native evergreens, the windows draped with curtains, and the walls relieved with mirrors over a red dado, while the regalias worn by members and the pretty dresses of the"*ladies gave the colophon to a picturesque scene, as viewed from the cosily arranged stage, where the non-dancers indulged in cards and conversation. The Ms.C,, Bros. W. W. L. Bradly, J. Hunter, J. Russell, and R. Hazley, did their duties well, and ably marshalled the crowded floor into order in the square dances, making the most of the space, which was all too small for this popular function. The supper was supplied by Mr Becroft, and thoroughly appreciated by the 205 persons who partook of the good things provided; the large number being waited on in quick and thorough manner. The committee and Messrs Willis and Hazley, Secretaries, are to be commended for their efforts in carrying out the arrangements to which, with the popularity of the Order, the success was due.
Misses Channon, Dye, Cullens and Donovan, and Messrs Dye and Cox, supplied extras during supper interval.
