Best quality sold at 29s per 1001b, others 2fis to 28s , cows and heifers, 22s to 25s , steers sold at i'l nm £7 17s Gs to £16 2s Gd ; cows and heifers. £4 17s Gd to £10 12s Gd. A draft of 15 steers from Mr Jam^s Taylor, Hukaniu Estate, averaged £13 17s 6d. A'eai came fonvard in good numbers, and also advanced in price. Hcav}' vealers sold at from £3 15 to £4 19s, medium-weight £2 10s to £3 10s, others 20s to 38s, smaller and freshdropped 5s to 183. Sheep came forward in full numbers, and showed a firmer tone. Best wethers sold at 21s to 23s yd, no extra hetwy-weight yarned ; othws, los 6d to 18s for first quality, others 13s 6d to 15s 6d ; hoggets were yarded in average numbers, and sold at late rates. July 3, our supply of beef totalled 381 head, including many lines of extra choice quaiitj'. There was a keen demand, and price advanced fully 15s per head. Choice ox sold to £1 9s, prime £1 fis to £1 83 ; cow and heifer, £l to £1 6s; steers ranged in price from £7 10s to £Ms 16s. Two trucks of heavy bullocks from Mr James Taylor, Hukanni East, averaged £13 lls 6d, and sever kI other consignments averaged over £11. A recently formed, southern synclicate speculated extensively in Jand ih the north of Auckland, and within the past fortnight a Wellington syndicate lias purchased 57 square miles north 01 Paissoll. This will be subdivided and offered for sale. Land settlement should be accelerated in Hawke's Bay (says a Dannevirke wire). Four estates, comprising 30,000 acres, were inspected by a Commissioner of Crown Lciklp; and a member of the Board last week, with a view to reporting to the Land Purchase Board next week.
