Messrs Alfred Buckland and Son ; report:— At our weekly "Westfield fat stock market on Wednesday, Juue 19, our yarding of beef totalled 437 head, the quality of which, was first-class. Competition was steady throughout, and last week's advance was sustained. Choice ox sold to £1 7s, prime £1 4a 6d to £1 6s; cow and heifer, 18s to £1 4s ; steers ranged in price from £~ to £12 15s ; cows and heifers, £4 to £9 17s 6d. There was a full supply of fat and young calves. Choice suckers continue to sell at exs treme values. Eunners, £4 5s to £5 10s ; heavy calves, £3 5s to £4 ; choice suckers, £2 to £3 ss, light and small 13a to £1 5s,1 fresh-dropped 3s to 10s (83 sold). The sheep pens were again well filled with mutton of nice quality. An odd pen sold at slightly higher values, but generally prices were on a par with last week's sales. Extra heavy wethers £ I Is to £1 2s ?>d, heavy 19s to £1 0s 9d, mediam to heavy 17s to 18s 6d, light 14s to 16s 6d ; choice heavy ewes, los to 18s, heavy 13s to 15s 6d, others 9s 6d to 12s (1828 sold). Prime hoggets sold at late rates, other sorts were lower. Prime heavy 14s to 16s 9d, lighter 11s 6d to 13s 6d, small and unfinished 5s 6d to 10s fid (324 sold). A moderate entry of pigs sold without alteration from recent sales. Choppers £3 to £5 ; baconers L2 5s to L 2 17s; large porkers, LI 5s to L 2 4s, lighter LI ns to LI 13s; slips, 13s to los ; ! weaners, 7s to 12s (93 sold). THE N.Z. Steers sold at from £6 5s to £14 5s ; cows, £4 10s to ill 10s ; heifers, £5 to £9. The veal calves were penned in less nubers than usual, and sold at late rates, Medium weights, £2 to £2 12s ; lightei sorts, £1 to £1 16s, smaller and freshdropped, 3s to 12s. Sheep wert yarded in. larger numbers than usua' and for those of first quality advancec in price ; others showed no improvement. MAEKET BEPOET Bran is selling readily at £6 ss, ex store, with prospect of values being slightly easier very shortly Pollard is steady at £7 10s, ex store Chaff : Local is coming to hand very freety, but quality in many cases laves much to be desired. Prices easier, and in accordance with quality being good, many buyeis readily pay increased rates in pieference tc local chaff. Fungus : Parcels arriving meeting with ready sale at .4£d. good quality. Butter: Choice, lid; first grade. IOJd to 10£ d: second grade, lOd to IOJd ; poorer qualities for milling, 9id to 9|-. Finding ready sale in all grades. Oats: Sales steady at 2s lOd, 2s lid, ex store, W heat: Firm at 4s 7d, ex store, in good demand.
