MOKAI.
(From our Travelling Correspondent.)
There is no mud at Mokai ! Can Helensvulians imagine such an immunity ? And tho cause is a very simple one. Because there is no river to make mud and not the kind of soil to admit of its being made. The soil is sandy, and the heaviest rain is soon quickly absorbed,
Mokai is purely a saw-mill township. Here again the law of eonroensatioa is exemplified; as the foiests fail the township rises. Mokai owes its rise to the enterprise of the Tnupo Totara TimV.er Co, who employ about one hundred men in and about the mill at Mokai and in the adjacent bush.
