THE CENTRAL STATION.
The Central Station petition which was canvassed by Mr Isaac McLeod, and signed by 330 people in the district, was presented to the Hon. Minister of Railways in Wellington, by Mr McLeod last week.
Mr I. McLeod informs us that the Minister, after going through the petition, gave him a very good hearing, and promised to go fully into the matter and see what could be done; At the same time lie pointed out we should haye to wait our turn, as Auckland and Wellington both wanted their stations re-modeling, and would have to be attended to first. The Minister stated that there was no necessity to spend money at Hel-* ensville North as the acconimod? ation there was good. Mr McLeod also waited on Mr Bonayne, General Manager of Kailways, who also spoke in the same strain as the Minister, pointing out that Auckland and Wellington should have first attention. Both Minister and Manager took notes of the hardships the Ie Pua and Parkhurst settlers had to contend with in the extra mile they had to journey with e™y _loa4 of manure, seed, and ■v >ravy goods froni Helens™e North. Mr McLeod was satisfied with the interview and thinks that we may look forward to some improvement as soon as there is money to spend. A meeting of those interesting themselves in this matter will be called shortly to forma committee to keep the matter before the Member for the district.
