The damage done by quail in cer tain districts was brought up at the Farmers '. Arrangements are being made to celebrate the jubilee of the arrival of the Albertland settlers in Auckland in 1802-3 the date fixe dupon being June 1 lth, 1912. Dr King (Box 563? G. P. 0, ) and Mr. Becroft have the arrangement in hand, and are trying to secure a special train to carry visitors from Auckland to Albertland. A special train will cost £38, and it is hoped sufficient people will elect to attend the jubilee to -warrant this arrangement being carried out. The R«v, W. Gittos, wiio was a missionary in the North for half a century, will attend the jubilee. The Albertland settlers arrived in the Matilda Wattenbach, Hanover, William Miles, Gertrude, and Annie Wilson, and some few came by other vessels. The son of Captain Goudie has signified that he will attend the function. Photographs of the Matilda Wattenbaeh, also a record of the passage and passengers, -will be taken up to Port Albert by permission of the committee of the Auckland Library.

At a special meeting of the Darga> wile Borough Council, Mr. George Derbyshire, of Te Kuiti, was appointed town clerk, vice Mr. Lambert, re. signed. Mr. Horace Hammond, consulting engineer, submitted his'report on a gravitation water scheme for the borough, which in round figures he estimated to cost £20,000. It was resolved to ask Mr. Hammond to take further gaugmge at the sources of supply during next summer, and in the meantime to secure options from Messrs Kerr and Mitchell, through whose property it will be necessary to go: also to ask the Government to vest the scenic reserve of 305 acres in section 3 block 111, Kaihu S. D., in the Council as a water catchment area ; also, to ask the Government for permis* sion tolay pipes along the railway line.
