WATER SUPPLY
Another step was reached yesterday in connection with the Helensville Water Supply. It is necessary for the Town Board to acquire 189 acres of the Mangakura Block as part of the water shed. Mr Hand claimed from the Board, £1437. Yesterday the arbitrators, —Mr Edward Allen, of Cambridge, act ing for the Town Board, and Mr T. F. Evans, of Parkhurst, acting for Mr John Hand —met, and after a lengthy conference the claim was finally settled at £617, being made up as follows : — 100 acres @£1 - - £100 89 acres @£3 - - 267 Loss of Water Rights 200 Loss of Road Frontage 50 Total £617 Work on the Drainage and.Water Supply is expected to commence next week.
