Messrs Alfred Buckland and Sons report: — At our usual weekly Westfield fat stock market on Wednesday, April Ist fat cattle totalled 347 head, the bulk toeing,of excellent quality Competition wHs steady throughout. Ox bes! sold at last week's'figures, but cow and rough beef were lower. Choice ox to LI 6s, prime LI 3s to LI 5s ; cow and heifei*, 16s to Ll; steers ranged in price from L7toLl3x; cows and heifers, L3TOs" to LB. The usual number of fat and young calves were penned, and sold . freely at ruling prices. Runners, L 3 7s \ioJA Is; heavy plain calves, L 3 12s to L 3 3s; choice suckers, Ll 15s to L 2 lOs ; small and, light, 3s to Ll 5 —(58 sold). The sheep pens were well filled with agood class of mutton. The de» mand was a bit irrogular; wethers and choice young ewes were better worth; others description sold at last week's rates. Extra prime heavy wethers Ll to-Ll 2s3d, heavey prime 17s 6d to 19s 6d, medium and light 14s to 17s; best ewes 15s"to 16s 6d, heavy 12s to 14s, others 9s to 11s 6d (1821 sold). The yarding of lambs was below the average, consequently prices were firmer. Best heavy 14s to 16, good 12s 6d to 13s 9d; others 8s to 11s 6d(330 sold) There was a large entry of pigs, principally choice porkers and baconers, The demand was good' and values re~ mainded unchanged. Baconers, L 2 10s to L 3 Is; large porkers Ll 18s to L 2 7s, lighter Ll 6s to Ll 15s; slips, 15s to 17s; well bred weaners, 11s to 14s; others, 5s to 9s (187 sold).
