CRIMINAL CASES.

Three local youths named George Anderson, Harvey Bradly, and Henry C. Russell, were charged that they did on the 12th inst., wilfully damage one gate to the extent of 15s, the property of James 'Mills, also they did commit mischief in respect of one plank valued at 6s, the property of the Waitemata County Council. Anderson was further charged that he did wilfully damage one picket fence to the extent of 10s, the property of William Downer.

Constable Driscoll explained to the .Bench that the offenders were returning home about. 11, -p m, on the 12th inst., and apparently Anderson wanted to test his strength on the picket fence, on proceeding further the three took a Hand in breaking, up a gate near the pound, the property of James Mills ; on reaching Mi* Cubitt's residence they pulled a picket oft the fence and threw it on the roof of the house ; on reaching the swing bridge they found fun in throwing a 30ft plank into the river the property of the Waitemata County Council. ■■■.■;

Mi J. A. Beale-appeared for the defendants and pleaded for leniency, defendants having pleaded guilty. * Anderson in each case was fined 5s and 7s costs, and ordered to pay; his share of cost of damage done. Bradly and Russell were similarly treated.
